Please read the following writing prompts and choose three essays to write about. You need to put each essay into a well-organized and developed essay. You will need to put together your own experiences, observations and/or information from various readings that you have done. <br /><br /><br /><br />Each essay should be at least one page in length. You will be responsible for turning in a rough draft as well as the final copy in order to receive complete credit. Each essay is worth 100 points; therefore 300 points total.<br /><br /><br /><br />• Everyone has days that they will always remember as being special. Think about a special day that you have had. Write an essay explaining why it was so special.<br /><br /><br /><br />• Imagine that time travel to the past is possible. Think of where and when you would like to go for a visit.<br /><br /><br /><br />• Some teachers are special. Explain why one particular teacher in your life was so special.<br /><br /><br /><br />• If your principal asked you to write your opinion about what needed to be changed in your school, what would you write?<br /><br /><br /><br />• We are learning all the time. Some of our learning takes place in school and some outside of school. Write about something you have learned recently and how it has affected you.<br /><br /><br /><br />• Your cousin is moving to your town. Write a letter explaining why your town is such a wonderful place to live.<br /><br /><br /><br />• Friends are important, but everyone has a different opinion of what makes a good friend. We are going to begin reading the novel "A Long Way Gone", by Ishmael <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Beah</span>. In order to begin reading we are going to be completing some research on children being used as soldiers. You will be given a set of questions regarding your research that you will be asked to discuss Wednesday of this week. On Thursday we will begin reading the novel and answering literature role sheets in order to help facilitate discussion on this novel.<br /><br />Please check the blog in order to keep up with the reading deadlines. The book is about a young boy who becomes a soldier during a civil war in his village.
